SPI Ducting for Inventor Overview

SPI Ducting Inventor supports complex design and unfolding of 3D pipes with Autodesk Inventor. Use for single parts or components of complete assemblies. An easy-to-use interface, precise parameter definitions, automatic assembly design, and the predefined material data editor aids productivity immediately upon installation.

SPI Ducting Inventor enhances basic Inventor functions, providing the complete functionality of the powerful SPI - Sheetmetal product. It also offers a comprehensive library of several pre-defined components, standard parts, transitions and connectors which can easily be customized.

Designing transitions means to connect two conturs, e.g. a circle with an rectangle. It is realized using a lofting command. In praxis such parts are manufactured in a rolling process or with seveal bends. In the second case to drive the machines you need a definition of bending lines. With the SPI software you can let calculate these lines without manipulating the CAD model. During the unfolding calculation the software has the bend angles and bend radii "in mind". The advantage: The 3D model geometricaly remains simple and can be modified in an easy way.

The procedure is very easy: After the construction of a transition the necessary completion parameters are to be defined. The unfolding command produces the plate with all bend lines, optionally with a bend line table as well as additional information for the bending machines. Using the facet attributes the number of bendings can be put in for each individual surface. After the completion the internally computed facets can be displayed with a single command.
