SPI SheetMetal Inventor Suite Technical

SPI SheetMetal Inventor Suite is 100% integrated with the current Inventor solution. SPI enhance the basic sheet metal features of Autodesk Inventor. The unfolding  of complex sheet metal parts is calculated in seconds. SPI's software - in just a few seconds - leaves a flat pattern transferable to e. g. laser or punch CAM programs and press brake control systems (special interface for Trumpf, Delem and Cybelec included) and to bending simulation software.

New Features - even closer to production

The starting object for press brake bending is a flate sheet, which is finally formend into a threedimensional object. The geometry of the final product is defined in the design phase. From this the flat pattern development (unfolding) is to be calculated considering the bend allowance aand other factors as machine capabilities and available tools.

Even more: Import of TruTops Bend material- and bending tool

The direct import of TruTops Bend material- and bending tool data is optimized: You can now import tool groups and single tools as well.  A tool can be used for crimping if the defining table has an opening angle 0 degrees in its entries.

Free choice: Import of punch tools

There are some new options to import punch tools from TruTops Punch :
Standard-punch: oblong, arrow, filleted rectangle, rectangle, circle, square, filleted square, filleted triangle. Relief tools: oblong, circle, square, diagonal square.

Directe way: GEO data with the unfolding

The SPI program directly delivers Tops GEO data with all the neccessary information (radius, angle, bending tool) for TruTops Bend. These parameter can be stored in different configurations.

Really small: Opening angle smaller 90 degrees

The sharp cornered flange allows to d efine opening angles smaller 90 degrees.  With opening angles smaller 90 degrees the  length can be measured on the external radius and on the peak as well. The sharp cornered flange allows the definition of the inner or outer length.

Easy generation: Bending lines

Optinally several bending lines can be generated for cylindrical or conical (freeform) surfaces. It is possible to create a sharp cornered profile along a path or around the base sheet.

Without reliefs: Sharp cornered

Sharp cornered parts, lofted solids, or curved surfaces (e.g. conical, elliptic, transitions) can be transferred to 2D drawings without problems. Unfolding of freeform surfaces is possible. As soon as a solid is designed the flat pattern is created including the calculation of bend allowance. Automatic corner reliefs are available even at filleted bend areas.

Automatically: Associativity

With SPI it is possible to create associative unfold views in an Inventor drawing document. After any model change the corresponding SPI unfolding is updated automatically. The creation of it can be started from an Inventor drawing document. Here one selects the desired 3D part and the position of the unfolding view in the 2D drawing document. It is possible to have multiple unfold views for the same or different parts in one document.

Ready for export: DXF file

The NC-ready DXF-file with additional bending information for Delem, Cybelec or Trumpf TruTops is available on demand. The table is associativ as well. The calculation is done based on formulas or defined emperical values.

Perfect unfolding: free form surfaces

The unfolding of freeform surfaces, which occur with e.g. transitions can be calculated. Tolerance parameters enable the designer to unfold even inaccurate parts that have been imported from other systems, e.g. STEP.

Import: Punch and stamp tools

SPI provides a library of punch and stamp tools. With the new SPI tool manager it is guaranteed that only tools are applied which are available for manufacturing. Optional access to TruTops Bend (ToPs 600) machine information is realized as well as the import of several tools from the TruTops Punch (ToPs 300) libraries.

Fast and reliable: Tool manager

With the new SPI tool manager it is guaranteed that only tools are applied which are available for manufacturing. Optional access to TruTops Bend machine information is realized as well as the import of several tools from the TruTops Punch libraries.
