SPI TruTops Interface Overview

The new SPI TruTops Interface allows you to use the material and bending process information from TruTops Bend. You can read it directly into the material management database of the SPI SheetMetal solution, and use this data during the design with Autodesk Inventor. Direct import of punch- and forming tools from TruTops Punch is also possible. The flat pattern development is calculated according to the TruTops Bend and Punch algorhythms. That means: It can directly be exported.

Highlights

  • Transfer of material and bending process information including tool specific compensation factors and radii from TruTops Bend
  • Import of punch tools and several forming tools from TruTops Punch
  • Bending tools predefined in TruTops Bend can be used during the initial design phase
  • Access to production radii
  • Eliminates faulty and redundant input of technology data
  • Unfolding fully compatible with the calculation methods of TruTops Bend
  • Transfer process data for bending directly to TruTops Bend
  • Uses bending information (bend angle, radius, tool combination, bending technology) available in TruTops Bend (enhanced DXF-format)
  • Unfolding can be used directly for process simulation and NC-code programming
  • manufactoring information and samples are recognized by TruTops Punch

Many companies still generate NC-programs at the bending machine. This creates unnecessary machine down time that could otherwise be utilized producing additional parts. "Off-line" preparation of NC code in the planning department and the digital transfer of this information to the machine allow this "value-added" part production to take place.

With the SPI TruTops Interface, another tool for the "Sheet Metal Process Chain" is available, supporting a close co-operation between the design, planning and production departments.

The SPI TruTops Bend Interface allows you to use the material and bending process information from TruTops Bend - you can load it directly into the material management database of the SPI SheetMetal Solution, and use these data during the design with Autodesk Inventor. You can also import punch tools and several forming tools from TruTops Punch.

It is now possible to use the same tools that have been defined in TruTops Bend or TruTops Punch during the initial design phase. Using this process the exact bending radii is guaranteed. The generated unfolding is fully compatible with the calculation methods of the NC program and delivers all the necessary production data.

You can directly transfer the unfolding from SPI to TruTops without the need for rework. The required bending information provided in the GEO format will include angle, radius, bending tool combination, etc., and the manufacturing information for TruTops Punch.
